December launch event proves a big success.
Senior figures from business and academia met with a UK Government Minister in December for the launch of the IET’s new Corporate Partners scheme.
The Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science, joined business leaders and academics as the IET outlined the new scheme, which aims to increase engagement and collaboration across industry and education.
During the event at IET London: Savoy Place, David Willetts emphasised the need for businesses to have access to the most sophisticated technology, which he said would keep business at the cutting edge of research and development.
IET chief executive and secretary Nigel Fine explained the benefits available to Corporate Partners, including support in knowledge and skills development for staff.
The IET’s head of Membership, Mark Organ, said: “Our Corporate Partners scheme will enable us to support organisations by providing a range of products, services, information, training, events and access to an international network of like-minded people, which will enable organisations to maintain the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.
“We have designed this package, which will be tailored for each Corporate Partner, to ensure we have an innovative and collaborative working relationship with organisations. As part of the partnership, engineers and technicians will be supported and connected locally, nationally and internationally. They will be at the heart of a global community of engineers and technicians with access to a powerful knowledge network.”
